PET Beverage Labeling
Each year, countless PET plastic beverage bottles are bought, used once and then discarded to be recycled or end up in landfill. Government guidelines and regulations are in motion to accelerate the transition to a circular plastics economy.
To achieve these challenging targets globally, your PET beverage bottle design needs to facilitate easy recycling into high quality PET. And to accomplish this, you need to ensure the paper or film label is easily released during the hot caustic washing process.
Industry-Approved Adhesives
Beverage PET bottle design and recycling is entering a new, fast-paced phase. Many PET bottles will need to be redesigned partially, or even entirely. Bottles need to enable a recycling process that produces high quality rPET, whether the bottles are designed for single or multiple use before recycling.
The label and adhesive choice are a key component to achieving this. To enable clean reuse of PET bottles and final recycling of PET bottles into PET, the adhesive needs to cleanly release the label in the hot, caustic water process.
H.B. Fuller has a portfolio of adhesives approved by PETCycle, Veolia and Returpack.
Our latest scientist designed H.B. Fuller® Earthic™ hot melt adhesive product line, which enables brand owners to achieve improved PET material streams with no compromise on labeling performance. Secure label bonding is immediately achieved on carbonated soft drinks bottles, even on very fast production lines for maximum efficiency and performance. Our H.B. Fuller® Earthic™ adhesives are approved by PETCycle, Returpack and Veolia to enable the reuse or recycling of PET bottles to improve PET material streams, with excellent caustic label wash-off achieved according PETCycle standards.
