Solvent-free
H.B. Fuller Flextra® solvent-free laminating adhesives contain 100% active ingredients. These two-component adhesives consist of an isocyanate and polyol, which combine to form polyurethane. The polymer chains in a solvent-free adhesive are very short to keep the viscosity low and give a smooth application and good optical appearance.
Flextra® solvent-free laminating adhesives are used by converters who require multi-layer structures to achieve the needed end performance of a flexible package. These laminating adhesives allow converters to bond two or more substrates together and create final packages, such as pouches or form fill and seal wrappers.
Solvent-free laminating adhesives are applied to base substrates, like films, paper, or foils, using solvent-free laminators with smooth roll transfer coating techniques. The coated substrates are then nipped and bonded to a secondary substrate to create the lamination.
Our solvent-free product line offers flexible packaging converters improvement in overall operational efficiency and profitability through their excellent technical and physical properties. It also provides high bond strength and fast curing to reach optimal time to slit and time to pouch, allowing for optimization of processes at the converter.
The advantages of Flextra® solvent-free laminating adhesives include their suitability for a wide range of end-use applications, including those requiring FDA compliance.
Example applications include candy, salty snacks, bakery items, meat and cheese packaging, hot fill, boil-in-bag, microwavable, and frozen food packaging. They also provide moderate chemical resistance and are ideal for aggressive fill goods. Additionally, these adhesives are suitable for creating laminates with most types of films, foils, and paper.
