The Glue Talk Blog
We have a long tradition of mentoring students, volunteering with youth development organizations and providing meaningful internship experiences for college students from across the US. We know that supporting students just beginning their careers isn’t just good for them, it’s good for our business.
In H.B. Fuller’s summer internship program, we provide real work in a broad range of professional fields, including Engineering, Supply Chain, Strategic Sourcing, R&D, Sales, Marketing and Human Resources. We’ve been in the business of industrial adhesives since 1887, and we share our expertise while also providing real project work that has an impact on our company’s success, the effectiveness of our customers’ products, and, ultimately, on consumers’ lives.
Some students work side-by-side with our chemists to conduct experiments and complete quality assurance testing and other research work that could even result in a new adhesive that changes the way you and I use any number of products from food packaging to disposable hygiene products to cell phones and more. Others focus on business administration and have helped create process improvements, prepare business plans and proposals, support technical system implementations, and develop financial reports. The possibilities for gaining valuable professional experience are nearly limitless.
A key part of the internship experience at H.B. Fuller is that we provide open access to a variety of professional experts. Whether students are interested in chemistry, engineering, public relations or sales, for example, we will connect them to colleagues across the organization and around the world to offer career advice and mentorship. In addition, we offer networking and social events, “lunch & learn” sessions with senior leadership, training, and other opportunities to connect with H.B. Fuller employees at all stages in their careers. We even provide interns with a 401(k) match!
Throughout their time with us, we help interns develop skills useful for roles in our workforce and beyond. Summer 2020 has been a bit different from those in the past, but we still continued our internship program, as the next generation of professionals shouldn’t have to wait to begin their careers. We were overjoyed with the group of students who helped us navigate the newfound obstacle of achieving results during a pandemic.
See what your contemporaries have learned from their time as interns at H.B. Fuller:
